Rob and his crew could see the fort rising up ahead of them. It was not great fortress, but it was a considerable size nonetheless. The crew dismounted and tied up their horses, they found a water supply and pitched some tents, out of gun range and protected from the wind and weather.
Rob grabbed a spare tent pole and tied a large white piece of cloth to the top. He hoisted the pole above his head and waved it in the air. He strolled towards the fort and stopped a hundred metres from the front gate. He was alone, although a few of his better armed crew watched from a distance.
***************************************** Rob planted the flag into the ground and cupped his hands "Coe! Come out here and talk with me, I don't wanna holler the whole damn time! I'm no Lawman, not anymore, and I have a proposition for ya!"

'You ain't from these parts are ya?' Coe began talking to the men behind him, who promptly lined up on the walls of the fort. 'Alright, I'll come down, but any funny plays and my boys will shoot.'

Rob grinned and slowly shook Coe by the hand "Now you listen here Coe, I'm not Lawman, not anymore. I got fed up of the game, people dying for jack shit. Got myself into trouble up in ol' Mexico. But anyway, the reason I'm here is because you've got a big ol' bounty on you. Now me and my boys were meant to kill the lot of you, but we don't fancy doin that. I mean, there's enough of us, we have the firepower, explosive and some hard, cruel men. But I think we would be better off if we followed something of.... a merger."

Coe chuckled to himself. 'And what is in it for me? I have an army, you have a book club. I have an empire stretching from Denver to Taos, and I have more wealth than you can even imagine, lawman.' Coe turned to leave, 'I wish you luck in your endeavours, but I have things to do.'

"Well Coe, your army won't be so loyal when you start losing men and stop making money." Rob trots back to his group with a broad grin on his face. During the brief discussion with Coe several keener eyed members of the group had made observations about the fort and its layout, some of them had noticed that certain parts of the wall were less well kept and that the gates in particular needed attention.
The Crew saddles up and makes a big show of leaving the area and heading off....
**************************************
Later that night, at just gone 1am in fact, the crew made their move. They had snuck back to the fort, or foot, during the early night and had been quietly observing goings on for several hours. They noticed that guard shifts lasted some three hours and that once a guard was about an hour into his shift he would doze off or go to the nearest fire and warm himself.
In the pitch black a lone figure crawled towards the gate, he was short but moved effortlessly and silently over the broken ground. Jimmy Wigs carried with him four sticks of dynamite taken from the other crew members. Jimmy quietly placed the sticks at the doors lock and some of the hinges and set the fuses. He had about one minute to get clear of the doors... He headed out and began to quietly scale a section of wall reaching the top and unslinging his Winchester at the same time that his compatriots scaled the front wall.
Whilst Jimmy Wigs had been setting the charges Sheller and the Chef had scaled the front wall, skin darkened with boot polish and swords, similarly darkened drawn and at the ready.
Behind them the dropped two ropes for the follow up crew, two more men with the Gatling gun, who would be up the wall and plastering the inside as soon as the charges blew.
Rob and the remaining men were on their horses, pistols out and swords and knives drawn. Led by Rob they would charge through the blown gates hollerin and hootin and murdering anyone they saw.

The crew members managed to scale the walls without alerting anyone, aided by Wigs' skill as a tracker. However, his skill, or lack thereof, with explosives let them down, none of the dynamite blew. This left the crew in a less than opportune position.
The remaining crew members could attempt to scale the walls risking being discovered, they could sit out the fight, or they could attempt to blow the gates again. The other, less desirable option, is for the crew to retreat and attempt a different strategy.

Rob almost swore when he realised the explosives hadn't gone off. He was the only crew member with experience handling the stuff, so he dropped off his horse and slowly crept forwards, with the sharpshooters keeping an eye out for any sentries, although if preferable the two swordsmen on the wall would dispatch them quietly...
Rob got to the gate and made sure to light the fuses properly, he then started to sprint back towards the mounted men, one of them was told to pull Robs horse along when they charged so that Rob could hop into the saddle on the go.

The crew waited eagerly, the first dynamite didn't blow leading to a certain level of nervousness in the ranks, however the second stick worked like a charm, blowing the gates wide open. The crew members who had sneaked into the fort timed their attack almost perfectly, killing four out of five sentries. The final sentry ran to ring the alarm bells, not that he really needed to.
The men on the wall started firing into the fort at the outlaws scrambling from their barracks. Three outlaws were taken down, but they started to fire back, killing Randy Marsh, Sheller and the Chef.
At that moment. Rob and his boys charged into the fray. One outlaw was killed by Rob, with Little man and Professor Chaos missing their targets and Kyle being killed in the initial charge. As pistol shots echoed around the fort's walls, another four outlaws were killed as Stan avenged his father, but Rob lost Wigs too.
Swords and knives started to clink and clank, Rob quickly beheaded an opponent who charged towards him. Stan turned his attention to the man who killed his sister and Jimmy Wigs, but neither managed to take the upper hand and Little Man became embroiled in an even melee of his own. Rob killed another man with his Sabre, a resolved look overtaking his face. Stan managed to get the upper hand and wrought vengeance upon the man who killed his sister. Unfortunately, no one was able to stop the mutilation of Kenny Loggins and Professor Chaos.
Both sides lined up, now facing each other three on four. Both Rob and Coe were smeared in blood, both equally determined to kill the other. Coe's henchman attacked Rob first, and Rob faced his first difficult challenge of the night, sparring with his seemingly unbeatable opponent. To his side, Stan and the Little Man each bagged a kill. Rob saw Coe charge at him from the corner of his eye, his own sabre tied up in his current fight. A gun blast from the Little Man sent his sparring partner to the dusty ground, Rob quickly spun around to face Coe and in one swift motion thrust his sabre through the outlaw King's heart.

Rob spat blood and looked at the slaughter around him. He patted Stan and the Little Man on the shoulders "Ok guys, there's dangerous men about, we don't have time for proper burials. Grab weapons from our guys and strip these bastards of whatever weapons they have. We need to saddle up and get the fuck out of here soon. We need to bring all the horses with us as well."
Rob and his remaining partners ride off into the dawn.
