Roberts relaxed in the creaking chair on the store front. He watched, he loved to watch. Something he had learned in Mexico was that a man who rushed into a situation was likely the man that got carried out of it.
After a short while a commotion across the street caught his attention, three men brandishing leaflets, whisky and the badges of Lawmen were causing something of a stir in one of the bars... God damnit, these were the kind of Lawmen that made his work difficult. Robert always wore his Marshals badge on the inside of his coat, no point flashing it around. If you did that then you may as well hang a massive target board on your chest.
"Hey Paddy." Roberts voice was a smooth but quiet southern drawl.
"Yes boss?" The Little Man walked over, he has been in the process of talking his way into the shopkeepers daughters corset.
"You see those three fellows over there? The ones making the noise? I want you to make your way over there, buy a bottle of Jack from the bar and then come back."
"Oi understand boss, but I was sort of busy.."
"You little devil, the girl wont be goin anywhere! Plus you can keep the bottle."
The Little Man grinned sheepishly and waddled off. Five minutes later he returned clutching a hefty bottle of whisky and puzzled expression.
"Well boss, it seems those boys are lawmen. Not sure of they're Marshalls or sheriffs men... But the lead one is called Jeremiah Corbyn. They are talkin about the county buyin everytin and arrestin some feller down the street for illegal activities."
Robert sighed "Men like this Corbyn will be the death of us. Saddle up lad, were headin off. You can find yourself a new girl in the next town. I don't want to be here when those idiots start waving their guns around like a little boy with his chap. Where's Lolita?"
As Robert swung into the saddle the Giant emerged from the shop carrying a small box, a large knife and a sabre.
"Wots all this then boss?" The Little Man stared at the Bowie knife in the Giants hand.
"A much needed upgrade." Robert took the Bowie knife and tossed it to a delighted Little man and took the Model 1860 Sabre for himself "You know I've had this Sabre since I joined the army of Virginia. Old Stonewall gave it me as a gift. Shame the blade caught a bullet in our last scuffle, this cost a damned fortune to repair, may as well have bought a new one! Lolita, the box is for you."
Robert tied his sabre on whilst the Giant opened the box and smiled.
The group leave town quietly.
Robert has purchased, for a total of $100 the following items:
- 1 Bowie Knife
- 1 Model 1860 Cavalry Sabre
- 1 Elgin Pistol
