Doc Murray had been a busy man indeed. With the proceeds from his Outlaw Job, he had bought a building in Lanark, and set up shop as both a physician and a gunsmith. Professor Reed had since returned to a centre of scholarly repute, but would be available if Murray needed him in a pinch. Elijah Jones worked the shop, and a promising new fellow, Freddy Thatch, an illicit and inexperienced miner aided Doc Murray of occasion in the small pit out of town.
1 Gun Shop is to be bought by Doc Murray in Lanark.

Doc Murray gripped a handful of coca leaves, and sniffed at them. He couldn't help but smile, eyes closed. This was the stuff! He'd chewed it a few years ago with natives in the Yucatan. It had quite the kick, he'd been smiling for a few hours afterwards. Now, though, mixed in with some fine ingredients; sugar, lemons, some vegetable extracts and ginger, boiled away with water and carbonated, it made for a refreshing drink. Lanarkola! The perking elixir that'll do wonders for a man's constitution. Doc Murray helped himself to a bottle while he was in the still. Ice, imported from a New York Refrigeration Plant, chilled the bottle. He set it down on a table for a bit, and watched the condensation form on the bottle. He licked it off, cracked it open, and drank.
Nah, it just rotted your teeth something fierce. Tasted nice, though.
Swirling a mouthful around, he left the stilling hut. Lanark had grown, massively, since he'd landed here. If nothing else, his developments should stop it becoming a ghost town. "Will there be a statue of me, say, a hundred and thirty two years from now?" he wondered. He had been mulling over what Jeremiah Corbyn had said. Whatever the man's failings... corruption... rashness... he had been correct about one thing. This was, indeed, the wild west. Anything could happen to a man. Though he was now wealthy in land and dollar, Murray was still just a man, with no authority.
Perhaps he should write the Army, and ask for his commission back? No. That would take him away from Lanark. A better idea would be to wire the US Marshalls' Office, and get himself a badge. Dona Ana County needed a Sheriff.... New Mexico could do with a decent Governor... and the US had a Presidency...

Doc Murray sets aside two Smith & Wesson Model 2 and a Winchester model 1873 for his men, at a cost of $192 dollars ( I think, mental maths was never my strong point).
