Using his hard earned money, Doc Murray began to expand the mine. On a wagon from El Paso came a steam engine, along with fine Virginian coal. Wagon ways led to grading huts, which in turn led to a smelting work.
Soon, little silver ingots with Lanark written on them made their way along to El Paso, where the railway took them east. Iron ore followed, the scrub product from silver mining.
Doc Murray was hard at work on other ventures. Farther afield from the mine, he set up a still, and began to work the coca leaves into something more palatable. The mine produced a surprising amount of water, which, stored in a tower, could be cleaned and drank. Things were looking up.

The project was well underway, causing a boom in the town's population. A few weeks into the venture some news started to spread, gold had been discovered in the mine.
